Team b4rtiN upset Team steel in ESEA MDL Season 34 All-Star Game
The eighth iteration of the MDL All-Star Game has come to an end, seeing the team based around Bruno "b4rtiN" Câmara take down Josh "steel" Nissan's pseudo Chaos lineup 2-0.
In the draft, steel's squad were set to be heavy favorites, as the Canadian IGL managed to secure the service of his teammates Nathan "leaf" Orf, Jonathan "Jonji" Carey, and Matthew "mCe" Elmore, while rounding out his squad with Swedish Canadians player Ian "battery" Yates. As for b4rtiN, he prevented steel from getting all of his teammates by recruiting Erick "Xeppaa" Bach, while also picking Kaitlin "Keiti" Boop, Adam "WolfY" Andersson, and Justin "FaNg" Coakley.
Starting off the series on Inferno, steel's squad seemed poised to run away with the series as they claimed a dominant 12-3 lead on their T-side. However, after switching sides, Team b4rtiN managed to claw the map back, reversing the momentum to win Inferno 16-13 thanks in part to a massive effort from Xeppaa, who ended the map with a 1.41 rating.
On Mirage, steel's squad were seemingly deflated by the Inferno loss, allowing b4rtiN and co. to run away on their T-side to end the half up 12-3. After this, steel's squad only won two more rounds before b4rtiN's team closed out the map 16-5, claiming the 2-0 upset over the squad largely populated by the Season 34 champions.
