effys defeated his own team this weekend

Oceanus win LAN ETS over LiViD

effys has now won the Canadian event two years in a row.

Oceanus have won LAN ETS 2020 after defeating fellow Canadian MDL squad LiViD in the grand final.

Even with the team fielding LiViD coach Loic "effys" Sauvageau in place of new addition Adam "Wolfy" Andersson, both teams had no trouble breezing through the round-robin group stage with unblemished records.

This meant both teams made it through to the playoffs easily, but they somehow wound up facing each other in the second round. There, LiViD bested their countrymen 16-9, sending Oceanus down to the lower bracket. effys and friends were up to the challenge, as they ran over Durham Lords and LapinETS DiscrETS to set themselves up for a rematch with LiViD.

The one map advantage for never leaving the upper bracket was not enough for LiViD in the grand final, as Oceanus took convincing 16-8 and 16-8 wins on Train and Vertigo to secure first place.

The top four teams of LAN ETS 2020 are:

1. Canada Oceanus (KOLER, J0lz, Melio, tENSKI, effys) - $4,800
2. Canada LiViD (huynh, MkaeL, INCRED, gMd, c4lypso) - $2,000
3. Canada English Canadians (krZ, n0swal, phx, daf, bs1zzle) - $1,200
4. Canada LapinETS DiscrETS (Prevox, MNZ, max, VTZ, Volcan)

The full results are available here.

Moving forward, both teams will see MDL action this week, with LiViD taking on Swole Identity and Oceanus playing Station7. LiViD also await the start of the ESL One Rio North America Closed Qualifier, which will commence on March 6th.
