Subroza helped to power Orgless past New Patrol
The first qualifier for FLASHPOINT has concluded, seeing Orgless and RBG through to the Closed Qualifier.
The second day kicked off with the quarterfinals, and with Super Nova forfeiting to Third Impact due to multiple players having work obligations. Moving along the bracket, Orgless had a fairly easy time dealing with New England Whalers and Ramal "Rampage" Silva, with Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker leading the team to a 2-0 win.
The remaining two series in the round were anything but swift. It didn't start out looking like that for RBG, however, as Rap Gang battered them 16-3 on the first map. The plucky Advanced team were then able to return the favor 16-13 to send the series to a third map. Said map did not disappoint, as it reached triple overtime before Colby "Walco" Walsh and co. secured the upset.
The final series of the round was a back-and-forth battle between New Patrol and LiViD, with the latter starting off with a 16-9 win thanks to the efforts of Maxim "wippie" Shepelev. The Canadian squad duplicated this result on the following map to tie the series, but ultimately fell short as New Patrol secured the series 2-1.
The final round of play resolved a bit quicker, with RBG securing a huge upset win over Third Impact to earn themselves a place in the Closed Qualifier.
I’m still in awe about us making the closed quali for flashpoint.— HexT (@HexT204) February 8, 2020
A battle of heavyweights ensued in the series between New Patrol and Orgless, with the latter squad and yay gaining the upper hand with a swift 16-9 on the opening map. New Patrol had a better time of it on the following map and brought it to overtime, but a strong fragging performance from Orgless in-game leader Pujan "FNS" Mehta was ultimately too much to overcome.
