Former Cloud9 coach James "JamezIRL" Macaulay has announced via a TwitLonger that he will be stepping down from his duties on Cloud9 to "pursue an opportunity outside of esports."

JamezIRL's announcement came shortly after Cloud9 finally revealed the signing of the ATK roster, with the team already having a coach of their own in the form of Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen. In his TwitLonger, JamezIRL mentioned that "not many folks get a shot to make a career in esports and (he) was fortunate enough to be granted the opportunity", and that it was "important to take a step back and 'smell the roses' from time to time." While he didn't go into detail about what opportunity he would be pursuing, his background as a bioengineer leaves many doors open as he looks to his future.

JamezIRL joined Cloud9 in July 2019 when they first began their roster rebuilding efforts, although the squad was unable to achieve much success over the ensuing months. Prior to his tenure on Cloud9, JamezIRL was the coach of Ghost for over a year, initially linking up with Joshua "steel" Nissan on Torqued at the start of 2018.
