DEFY strike gold in Toronto

The Advanced team emerged at the top of the Canadian pile this weekend at T.O. Strike.

Over the weekend, DEFY took down Off Beat in consecutive 2-1 series' in order to take home the lion's share of the prize pot at Waves Gaming's T.O. Strike in Toronto.

DEFY, with the help of stand-in Jonathan "djay" Dallal, breezed through their group, picking up wins over Smoovement, Boomers, Top 0, LAN Lords and Pick ur Poison to advance to the four-team playoff bracket as the number one seed. Once there, they continued their run by taking down York and the aforementioned Off Beat to reach the grand final.

The two teams to fall to the eventual champions faced off in the Lower Bracket final, where Off Beat crushed York in a 16-6 scoreline. With a rematch and another shot at the title up for grabs, the upstarts couldn't pull through, once again falling in three maps.

The top four teams at T.O. Strike were:

  1. Canada DEFY (retchy, shanks, poised, Marved, djay) - $600
  2. Canada Off Beat (denya, iKoniK, b0ssy, mirth, flycowmoose) - $300
  3. Canada York University (Skelly, tennls, kXn, Zephix, xineF)
  4. Canada Smoovement (hairbear, digit, WARDELL, Akomplice, uwuu)

The full bracket is available here.

Looking forward, DEFY will look to carry on their good run of form in tonight's Advanced playoff series against ETHEREAL.
