First round of Advanced playoffs sees favorites tested
It was mostly business as usual in the first round of Advanced playoffs, with the only upsets coming in the form of Precision and Rebirth winning 2-0 against Clarity and absolute mad lads, respectively.
Jared "MAC-1" Schneider’s Gorilla Gang survived a brief overtime scare on Mirage to overcome Good Game PR in a 2-0 fashion, in a series that will be one of Nathan "leaf" Orf’s last for the side before leaving to join MDL side Rugratz. Gorilla Gang will now face Recon 5 in their next series, with GGPR being sent down to a lower bracket series against Brazen.
The closest series of the opening round was Oceanus against ETHEREAL, where the former barely won a double-overtime thriller on Mirage to avoid being upset early on in the bracket after coming back from a map down in the series, despite ETHEREAL clawing their way back into the final map from being down 13-7.
The second round of the playoffs will kick off in four days, with the upper bracket looking as follows:
