After failing to find traction with Cloud9, daps might be forming a new squad under Gen.G

Report: Gen.G in talks with autimatic, daps, and SHiPZ

SHiPZ is the next Bulgarian player to be rumored to a North American roster.

After a dismal showing at BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen and disappointing results over the past few months, a report by Jarek "DeKay" Lewis has linked Cloud9 players Timothy "autimatic" Ta and Damian "daps" Steele with a move to Gen.G. In addition to the two Cloud9 members, the report states that Gen.G are also in talks with Georgi "SHiPZ" Grigorov, who recently joined CR4ZY.

It is unknown whether or not Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas, Kenneth "koosta" Suen, or Yassine "Subroza"' Taoufik would be considered to fill the remaining two roster slots, or if Gen.G would look elsewhere should SHiPZ be purchased from CR4ZY. Out of the Cloud9 players, only autimatic and daps are currently in talks with the organization, according to the report.

On top of their last place finish at BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen, Cloud9 failed to win a single match in their ESL Pro League Season 10 group, leading to a last place finish which prompted the removal of Tyson "TenZ" Ngo and the addition of Subroza. The team is slated to play in the relegation tournament later this month, where they will have to battle for their life in ESL Pro League.

SHiPZ joined CR4ZY at the start of October, quickly helping the team achieve victory in their only LAN appearance thus far at DreamHack Open Rotterdam. There, the team were able to best Berlin Major finalists AVANGAR on their way to the championship, where they toppled a high flying Heroic to take the trophy. The reported move would see SHiPZ become the third Bulgarian player to have ties to a notable organization, with Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov already on Evil Geniuses and Valentin "poizon" Vasilev linked with a move to Complexity.

The roster would mark Gen.G's first entrance into Counter-Strike, joining a number of notable organizations who have picked up or have indicated an interest in acquiring a CS:GO roster. Gen.G owns the Seoul Dynasty franchise in the Overwatch League as well as a team competing in the Riot Games-run Korean League of Legends league (LCK).

The report indicates that Gen.G have expressed interest in the following three players:

  • United States Timothy"autimatic" Ta
  • Canada Damian "daps" Steele
  •  Georgi "SHiPZ" Grigorov

Alongside the unknown fates of the trio of Cloud9 players, the future of coach James "JamezIRL" Macaulay also remains to be determined.
