EliGE edges out Ethan as top player of October

Meanwhile, steel did the same to crashies in online play.

With October in the books, let's look back at last month to see who the top North American players were at major LANs and online. For the purposes of this ranking, major LANs includeDreamHack Masters Malmö, StarSeries i-League Season 8, and the first stage of ESL Pro League Season 10.

The top ten players at major LANs in October were:

American riflers Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and Ethan "Ethan" Arnold ended October in extremely close proximity of one another, but it was EliGE who ultimately claimed the title of number one due to consistency in performance across events.

Both players attended DreamHack Masters Malmö, and while neither player's team made particularly deep runs at the event EliGE was the superior of the two in Sweden. While StarSeries proved to be a real stomping ground for Ethan as he was named MVP of the event, EliGE managed to put up a solid performance in his own right.

EliGE picked up the pace during ESL Pro League, putting ATK, Singularity, and the Renegades to rest with ease. While Ethan didn't do poorly, his 1.16 rating brought his overall average down. In the end, the top of the leaderboard was dominated by both Evil Geniuses and Liquid members alike, occupying spots one through six.

The bottom of the leaderboard is occupied by eUnited and Envy players, with Austin "Cooper-" Abadir leading the way following strong performances against both Cloud9 and Complexity.

The top ten online players of October were:

Crushing the online portion of October was none other than 29-year-old in-game leader Joshua "steel" Nissan alongside Ben's Anime Team teammate Gage "Infinite" Green. The team currently holds a 14-1 record in MDL and are in a prime position to make a deep playoff push.

Other notable appearances on the list include a trio of Riot Squad players, and two members of The Quest, in a month that saw the motley bunch surprise by managing to qualify for DreamHack Open Atlanta.

With plenty more CS set to take place in November, who do you think will be the standout players this month?
