Sharks take a bite out of Cloud9 to secure first ECS Season 8 Finals spot

With their win, Sharks will also face ATK in the week 2 finals on Friday.

Recent South American imports Sharks have upset Cloud9 in the second week of ECS Season 8, guaranteeing themselves a spot in ECS Season 8 Finals, joining CIS team AVANGAR as the first two teams to book tickets to Arlington.

The series between Cloud9 and Sharks began on Sharks' pick of Train, with Cloud9 punishing them for the pick as they started their CT-side up 6-0. Sharks finally found their first round after this, but Cloud9 continued to batter the Brazilian squad as they closed out the half 12-3.

After switching sides, Sharks continued to gasp for air as Cloud9 continued to gut them, winning the next four rounds in a row to take Train 16-3.

Moving onto Cloud9's map pick of Nuke, it looked like Cloud9 were set to take the map in an equally convincing fashion as they climbed up to 5-1. Unfortunately for them, Sharks finally got into gear, outpacing Cloud9 to take the lead and secure the half 8-7.

After switching onto their CT-side Sharks managed to make the second half a relatively one-sided affair, as they only allowed Cloud9 two more rounds before they forced the series onto Mirage with a 16-9 finish.

With the series tied up, Sharks continued to impress as they decimated Cloud9's T-side to secure a massive 11-4 half.

Following this, Sharks promptly won the first four rounds in a row on their T-side to secure map point. Cloud9 had one last rally in them, winning the next four rounds in a row however it mattered little as Sharks won the next round to secure their upset, taking Mirage 16-8.
