INTZ relegated to MDL as Envy claim Relegation finals berth

INTZ fell in Relegation today after playing two incredibly close series against Envy and Singularity.

After an intense day of matches, INTZ have fallen, and only three squads remain in the fight for the final ESL Pro League Season 10 spot.

The first day of Relegation began with Singularity facing off fellow MDL hopeful ATK. Starting off on Inferno, Singularity were quickly put on the backfoot as ATK put forward a strong T-side that saw the South African squad end the half up 10-5. Following this, ATK immediately found map point after winning their CT-side pistol and the following four rounds. With Inferno on the line, Singularity launched a comeback effort as they found the next seven rounds in a row; however, they came up short in the end as ATK claimed a final round to close out the map 16-12.

After struggling on Inferno, Singularity had their chance to hold ATK's feet to the fire on Train. Thanks to a dominant performance from Josh "oSee" Ohm, Singularity managed to win their T-side 11-4, before powering forward to take the map 16-6.

With the series tied up, it seemed as if Mirage was set to be hotly contested, however ATK decimated Singularity as they ended the half up 11-4 after claiming the first ten rounds in a row on their CT-side. On their T-side, ATK's domination continued as, after conceding the pistol round to Singularity, they managed to quickly regain control, claiming the next five rounds to take Mirage 16-5.

Continuing on, Envy squared off against INTZ. Surprisingly, after their horror story loss to INTZ on Nuke during Pre-Relegation, Envy were undeterred as they opted for a rematch on Nuke. Starting off on the T-side, Envy put a repeat performance from their previous outing on the map as they claimed a 12-3 lead at the end of the half. Upon switching sides, Envy likely began to sweat as INTZ were seemingly set to put an encore performance of their own as they rapidly advanced to close the gap to a single round at 14-15. Luckily for Envy, they avoided repeating history as Sam "s0m" Oh and Noah "Nifty" Francis combined for four frags to secure Nuke 16-14.

Moving onto Mirage, although Envy claimed the half after winning nine out of the first eleven rounds, INTZ bounced back at the end of the half to end it with a more competitive 9-6 scoreline. Following this, Envy was the first team to make it to double digits as they won the second half pistol; though INTZ were quick to close the deficit as they found the next five rounds to tie things up 11-11. With INTZ looking firmly in control they forced a third map after closing out Mirage 16-14.

With two incredibly close maps behind them, Dust2 turned out to be no different as even after Envy claimed a strong 10-5 T-side, INTZ immediately made things close as they found the first five rounds on their T-side to nearly tie things up. The two sides unsurprisingly continued to trade rounds before Envy finally managed to claim the series after playing 89 rounds.

The third series of the day was the sole series to end in two maps as Singularity narrowly scraped by to survive into day two. Starting the action on Mirage, INTZ began the map in the lead after winning their T-side pistol. However, momentum quickly began to shift in Singularity's favor after a 4k flank from Cameron "Hydrex" Kern got the North American squad back in action. Singularity would build on this momentum to take the half 9-6. Singularity would not hold the lead for long as after transitioning onto their CT-side, INTZ lept ahead after finding the first eight rounds in a row. Following INTZ's run of rounds it looked like they were set to make Mirage, however Singularity managed to return the favor as they won seven out the next eight rounds in a row to pull Mirage back with a 16-14 scoreline.

On Inferno, INTZ started the first half off in a confident fashion winning their CT-side 9-6. The action continued into the second half as although Singularity were the first to find double digits, INTZ managed to hold it together and fight to find match point first. With Singularity's back against the wall, Ricky "floppy" Kemery found an ace on round 30 to bring the map into overtime. With their lifeline found, Singularity powered forward to claim four rounds in a row to secure the map and avoid Relegation with a 19-15 finish.

After a day filled with hard-fought matches, the final series of the day between ATK and Envy proved to be no different as Envy managed to clinch a 2-1 victory over ATK to make their way to the Relegation finals. Starting on Inferno, Envy seemingly finally found their rhythm as they crushed ATK with a brutal T-side to catapult themselves into an 11-4 half. Following this, it was simply clean up duty as they cobbled together enough rounds to lock down Dust2 16-8.

Moving into Train, after their battering on Inferno, ATK look undeterred as recent addition Ian "motm" Hardy led the way for his team to end the half up 9-6. Envy would start the second half by winning the opening pistol, ATK managed to stave off their efforts to force a third map with a 16-11 scoreline. During Train, motm stood far above the rest of the server with 28 kills and 100.7 ADR.

With the series tied up, Envy looked ready to close out the series and their long day as they battered ATK once again to end their T-side up 12-3. ATK attempted to string together rounds in the second half however Envy's lead was too tall a hill to climb as they buckled down and won the map 16-7.
