blackpoisoN and ATK will meet ex-Variance in the quarterfinals

ATK and Lazarus headline teams in first ECS S8 Pinnacle Cup Open Qualifier quarters

The first of three days of play concluded yesterday, leaving eight teams still alive.

Day one of the first ECS Season 8 Pinnacle Cup open qualifier has ended, and most of the favorites are going to the quarterfinals.

The first two rounds went smoothly, as most of the higher-seeded teams didn't have an opponent in the first round and dealt with their opponents with ease in the Round of 64.

The third round saw the new-look LiViD beat Kansas City Pioneers 16-13 on Inferno to advance. Another interesting matchup saw nTice face-off Ascent, in which the latter team dominated 16-5 while fielding Dominick "JazzPimp" Dimpfel and Lucas "fiziq" Blow for the qualifier.

The Round of 16 started with LiViD beating ESEA Main side Gods with Attitudes, followed by The Quest disposing of Ascent and Main AWP (or imperial, or Media Mode House, depending on the day) barely scraping by Good Game PR. Meanwhile, ATK obliterated Kanpeki's Kawaii Killers 16-3 on Overpass, and Austin "RenZ" Dickman's Final Feature/Party Astronauts mix took down a mix featuring Jasper "sfX" Ko and Sam "4sh0t" Mariano.

The quarterfinal matchups are as follows:

United States The Quest vs. United States Main AWP
United States ex-Variance vs. ATK
United States Lazarus vs. United States Final Feature
Canada LiViD vs. United States Sadboyz

All the quarterfinal matches will start tonight at 8 PM EDT and will be played in a BO3 format.  The semifinals will be played tomorrow at the same time, and will determine which two teams will advance to the ECS Season 8 Pinnacle Cup.
