ex-Zone send Singularity to lower bracket in Fragadelphia Online 5th Year Anniversary event; eight teams remain

An interesting mix of MDL to Main teams started out the event, with all four MDL teams still alive.

Just eight teams are still alive in Fragadelphia's 5th Year Anniversary online event, half the number that the event began with.

The remaining teams are Singularity, Chris and the boys, Polar Ace, and ex-Zone from MDL, while Hysteria, Onyx, and Cyclone from Advanced and Whalers from Main complete the list. Singularity and Polar Ace entered the sixteen-team double-elimination bracket as the top two seeds.

The first round of matches saw no upsets as the favorable sides advanced to the upper bracket semifinals, with Singularity putting up the most dominant scoreline as they took down Dexa 16-1 in their opening matchup. The most notable losses came in the following two rounds, beginning with Polar Ace falling to Cyclone 20-22 in the upper bracket and iNTACT getting stomped by Chris and the boys 16-1.

Chris and the boys added another win to the board as they defeated Cyclone, advancing themselves to the upper bracket final. Following a 16-13 win over Hysteria, Singularity found themselves up against ex-Zone in their upper bracket semifinal matchup, with Joshua "Hunter" Madore's side coming out on top and sending Singularity down to the lower bracket semifinals.

The favored sides in the initial lower bracket matchups also advanced, seeing Dexa, Nfinite, Fusion, and Compact Carebears eliminated from the tournament. Those teams were joined shortly by an additional quartet as Polar Ace eliminated Lowkey, Dignitas fe dropped to Whalers, and iNTACT and IdentityDisorder were sent packing by Onyx and Hysteria, respectively.

This leaves just eight teams in the running for the $2,000 prize pool, with ex-Zone and Chris and the boys set to clash in the upper bracket finals tomorrow at 9 PM EDT. Before those two teams clash however, the third round of the lower bracket will play out, with the schedule looking as follows:

Wednesday, May 2nd
United States Onyx vs. United States Polar Ace 9:00 PM
Brazil Whalers vs. United States Hysteria 10:00 PM

The full bracket is available here.

The winner of the the matchup between Onyx and Polar Ace will move on to face Singularity, while Cyclone awaits either Hysteria or Whalers in the second lower bracket semifinal. The remaining matches are set to play out as best-of-threes, culminating in a best-of-five grand final with a one-map advantage to the winner of the upper bracket.
