Grin and Bear it

Less than a week after announcing that he had linked up with Skyler "Relyks" Weaver on Bad News Bears, Will "dazzLe" Loafman appears to be on the outs from the MDL roster. Josh "shinobi" Abastado would take his place if the move came to fruition, stepping down from the coaching role that he had taken up following the new additions.

The team's first outing proved successful as they managed a 2-1 win over Royal in the first ESL One Cologne open qualifier semifinals, earning themselves a spot alongside ATK in the event's Closed Qualifier. Notably, Bad News Bears were still fielding shinobi as their in-game leader in their matchups for the qualifier as Peter "ptr" Gurney was attending the Rank S Combine.

shinobi's in-game leadership appears to be a key factor in the reported change as, with the player in a coaching position, ptr was forced to take up the role. Dust2.us knows that dazzLe's performance is not an issue, but rather that Tyson "TenZ" Ngo prefers shinobi's calling. The circumstances would mark the second time that dazzLe was sidelined in favor of Relyks, as a similar scenario also unfolded on eUnited in November of last year.

  • us Josh "shinobi" Abastado
  • us Skyler "Relyks" Weaver

Bad News Bears will play in a number of matches in the near future as they are set to compete in ECS Season 7 Week 3, with their first game pitting them against Cloud9 on April 25th at 9 PM EDT. They will also compete in the second Mythic Cup, the ESL One Cologne Closed Qualifier, and MDL Season 31, the last of which features an accelerated match schedule for the season.
