MDL Week 6 Recap - Party Astronauts dance their way up the standings
Week six of ESEA's MDL Season 30 has come to an end, seeing Spacestation maintain their top spot while Denial push their way into second place with their new roster. The week saw just eleven matches played as the second ECS Season 7 Challenger Cup qualifier resulted in a few matchups being rescheduled.
Four of those matches were won by Party Astronauts, who made a resurgence in the standings by moving up from 15th place with a 1-4 record last week into ninth place, now sitting just below playoffs contention. Their most notable set of wins came over Mythic and Infamous, granting the two teams just eleven rounds combined. A narrow 19-16 overtime victory against Final Feature and 16-6 win over Stay Frosty also allowed for Party Astronauts to go undefeated over the week.
Spacestation, on the other hand, lost their undefeated streak with a 10-16 loss to Bad News Bears. The Bears then claimed a second scalp with a dominant 16-5 win over oNe, who were forced to field their coach Olavo "chucky" Napoleão following the departure of Nicolas "NikoM" Miozzi. Not all was lost for Spacestation however, as they had already picked up a 16-8 win at the start of the week over Singularity to continue to remain at the top of the leaderboard.
This upcoming week will see the return of FURIA to Miami, where they will begin to work through a backlog of matches following their attendance at the IEM Katowice Major. As such, a number of matches have already been scheduled for the Brazilian squad, with their first matchup taking place later today at 8 PM EST.
