floppy and the rest of Vireo.pro are just trying to get more experience on LAN by attending Global Challenge

floppy: "We're looking towards ben1337 right now"

We had the chance to catch up with floppy as Vireo.pro prepared for their elimination matchup against cantwinalan yesterday.

Collin "CarbonDogma" Davis had the opportunity to talk to Ricky "floppy" Kemery shortly after Vireo.pro lost their opening bout against 3DMAX at MDL Global Challenge Season 29, with the player revealing details on why he left Vision as well as Vireo.pro's MDL Season 29 run with Donovan "zNf" Froid.

I wanted to rewind a bit first, what happened with leaving Vision?

I left Vision because it felt like there wasn't that much structure in the team. If I'm going to be completely honest, our in-game leader was high the entire time, he'd get high during practice, and your in-game leader can't get high during practice and matches, you just can't do that. I left because I felt like my attitude was really shitty because of it, and I felt like I was bringing the team down so I just left, I didn't want to do that to them cause they're all good guys.

When you joined Vireo it went really well, you guys played great, and then zNf left the team. What was it like losing zNf?

Playing with zNf we could barely play because of his work schedule, some days he wouldn't get home until 10 EST, and all the Pro teams and MDL teams usually scrim from 4 EST to 10 EST. As soon as he gets home from work you can't really practice that much, we played like one scrim every two weeks and pretty much pugged out the season.

You guys got to replace Wild at this event because they had visa issues, what was it like finding out you could come to the LAN?

Yeah, I just woke up one morning and it was in the WhatsApp, I don't know who got the email originally but it was talking about how we're going to go to the MDL Global Challenge. It was pretty sick, I love going to LANs.

Going into the next season, is Rustun going to be your fifth again or are you guys gonna look for a new fifth and he's going to be the coach again?

Rustun is going to be our coach, and we're looking at a few different options for an IGL. We're looking towards ben1337 right now, probably gonna pick him up. We're gonna use him for the StarSeries qualifier tomorrow.

You played against 3DMAX earlier, how do you think that game went?

To be honest we're not really expecting too much from this entire event just because we don't have a set five, we've played a total of two scrims with Rustun, just haven't really practiced. It's more about having fun and getting more LAN experience.

We reached out to Vision in-game leader Andy "vSa" Xu regarding floppy's comments, and he had the following response:

It is when you lose you see the true colors, we all have high expectations but some don't have what it takes to push through the lows together. I don't smoke that much anymore when it comes down to CS because I didn't play MDL playoffs for the first time and it is bothering me, so we'll see what is up.

I've lost my chance with a nice group of guys and smoking wasnt the problem, I realize I might not get the same type of teammates like before but it doesn't matter, because it's the past and only the ones who go through it know the lefts and rights.

floppy and Vireo.pro were eliminated from the Global Challenge after a 2-0 loss to Kinguin, and also fell to Rogue in the opening match of  the StarSeries i-League Season 7 North America Closed Qualifier. They will face Spacestation later today to try and keep their tournament life alive.
