Six spots clinched for MDL playoffs; Swole Patrol top league 18-1
Just over a week remains in ESEA MDL Season 29, and with much more Counter-Strike to still play, six teams have clinched their spot in the playoffs, while others still sit in the playoff bubble.
At the top of the heap, Swole Patrol closed out the season with Brandon "Ace" Winn in the lineup and an 18-1 record. With the #1 seed secured, the Patrol now awaits their eighth seed opponent, a seed that will be very competitive to acquire.
The next four teams haven't had their seeds completely determined, but Bravado, Vireo.pro, Singularity and Spacestation are all locks for the MDL playoffs, all posting 14-5 records. From the head-to-head, it's determined that Bravado currently have the #2 seed, Vireo.pro the #3 seed, Singularity the 4th, and Spacestation the 5th. cantwinalan currently sits at 11-4, and very well could overtake the four going 15-4, taking the 2nd seed.
After their victories over oNe and Infamous, Mythic clinched a spot at 13-6 to end their season. Whether they'll be the 6th or 7th seed is still yet to be determined by cantwinalan, however in the event the two tie, Mythic will take the sixth seed with a head-to-head victory from the beginning of the season.
The teams contending for the final 8th seed include Old Guys Club at 11-7, Test Takers with an 11-8, oNe at a 10-7, and Vision at 9-8. There are many conditions for each team to potentially take the 8th seed, most include just acquiring 12 wins, which only OGC and oNe can still do.
A single team is guaranteed neither playoffs or in danger of entering relegation as of right now and that reward goes to Infamous who finish the season 8-11, closing out the season on a 3-game loss streak.
The relegation teams are ETHEREAL and Blight with the final two spots has yet to be determined. The battle between Vault, Excelerate, ex-Velocity and Forty Six and 2 will come down to the final match, Excelerate barely kept themselves alive with a 16-3 win over Vision last night. Vault still have two final matches to play against cantwinalan and Vision, while ex-Velocity play their final game against Forty Six and 2.
With Dignitas forfeiting from the beginning of the season, and Think Outside the Box losing their opportunity to enter relegation due to Ethereal's victory over them in the middle of the season, the Thinkers will be playing Advanced for Season 30.
