valens to stand-in for Cloud9 on Day one of BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen

Another stand-in for the American team is coming into the fray.

Due to a "medical situation" with IGL Maikil "Golden" Selim, Cloud9 have announced that Soham "valens" Chowdhury will be standing-in for the team on the first day of BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen.

This will be the first time valens has played on LAN since 2015, with his last appearance being under compLexity at the RGN Pro Series Championship, where his team finished last place in a Group B that featured Cloud9. valens will be the second stand-in for Cloud9 at the event, with the team taking on Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey in place of the retired Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham.

He's taking the potentially difficult task on the chin, replying to MIBR's Tarik "tarik" Celik with a link to a match where the two played against each other, with the coach winning.

Cloud9's roster for the first day of BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen will be:

  • United States Timothy "autimatic" Ta
  • United States Will "RUSH" Wierzba
  • Sweden Robin "flusha" Rönnquist
  • Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey (stand-in)
  • United States Soham "valens" Chowdhury (stand-in)

The first match they will play today will be against Natus Vincere at 2PM EDT on Mirage, before they'll face MIBR at 3:30 PM EDT on Inferno. It is currently uncomfirmed if Golden will feature tomorrow, however Cloud9's manager Jonathan Tran has tweeted that the Swede "is doing well now."

Food poisoning? Caught a disease?

Whatever it is, I hope he fully recovers so we can see him tomorrow.
