oNe overcome Mythic to claim Gfinity Spring Series title
The Grand Final of the Gfinity Spring Series 2018 took place last night between the Brazilians of oNe and stream team Mythic. With oNe coming from the upper bracket, it would require Mythic to take two best-of-three wins to be able to claim the season.
The first best-of-three saw the teams veto down to Mirage, Train and Cache. Mirage was opened with a strong T-side from oNe, as they claimed the first four rounds before having a strong spell in the middle and ends of the half, making themselves 11-4 up. The second half was also T-sided, this time to Mythic, as they chased down the leak and managed to tie the match up to 11-11, before doing the same four rounds later at 13-13. Mythic weren't able to push forward for a win on this occasion, as Alencar "trk" Rossato on a 1.89 rating secured the final three rounds for a 16-13 win.
The second map, Train, once again began with a strong T-side, albeit this time in favor of Mythic. Although their six-round lead slipped in the middle of the half, they went into the break with a strong 9-6 lead. Their CT-side was equally strong, seeing the Americans pick up the first five rounds of the half to put them in a controlling position. Two rounds followed which were in the Brazilians' favor, but Mythic answered back with two of their own, with Adam 'Polen' Polen in fine form, to claim the map 16-8.
The final map of the first best-of-three was a close battle on Cache. For the first time in the series, the map started off close, with both teams unable to hold a lead until Mythic punched out in the ninth round. From there, the Americans were in control on their CT-side to force out a 10-5 lead at the break. The second half was a familiar sight, where oNe came out with a strong CT-side start, taking the first five rounds to even the half. They managed to take the lead four rounds later, at 13-11, before Mythic returned to winning rounds. From there, it was the streamers who picked up the final five rounds they needed for a 16-13 win, taking the first best-of-three 2-1.

This result led to a second best-of-three, where the two teams decided to play Mirage, Train and Overpass. Mirage was opened up, once again, by a strong oNe T-side as the Brazilians raced to a six round lead before Mythic were able to secure a round. It was a half of two portions, as the final five rounds were all in favor of Mythic, whereas all but one of the previous ten went to oNe meaning the Brazilians were 9-6 ahead at the break.
The second half saw Mythic start off strong, taking four rounds to narrowly go ahead, but it was Pedro "Maluk3" Campos and co. who took the controlling portion of the half, namely when they secured map point. Mythic were only able to delay their opponents for one round as they secured a 16-12 win.
Train followed, and this time it was a much more dominant map display from oNe. The Brazilians opened up with the first nine rounds of their CT-side, and barring three T-side wins from Mythic, they were constantly in control as Argentinian Nicolas "NikoM" Miozzi led the lines for his team as they went in 12-3 ahead.
The second half started off strong for Mythic, as they picked up the first two rounds of the half, but it was oNe who came back in the third and fourth rounds to go 14-5 ahead. A similar display then followed, with both teams winning two rounds each, as oNe won Train 16-7, for a 2-0 win to claim the Gfinity Spring Series 2018 North America title.
