oNe made it through an open qualifier!

oNe & Mythic qualify for IEM Katowice NA Closed Qualifier

You probably wouldn't have enVisioned one of these teams making it through.

In the second of four IEM Katowice NA Open qualifiers, both oNe and Mythic have successfully made their way to the closed qualifier in December. Bravado and Vision will have their chance once again in November for the third open qualifier.

The top side of the bracket featured stream team Mythic, pushing their way past Vicious, FakeOut Nation, and APE GANG, while their semifinal opponent Vision took down Pocket Globe, blitz reborn, and the new Infamous roster.

The bracket's bottom half featured another battle of the South for Bravado as this time they were matched up against oNe as opposed to INTZ in the DreamHack Winter qualifier. The South Africans were practically gifted their spot in the semis with matchups against KSU Gold,  4US, and a forfeit win from ETHEREAL. oNe on the other hand had their share of turbulence getting to the semis against Serac, The Fundamentals and Vireo.pro.

Former Major finalist Eric "adreN" Hoag and his gang of streamers decided to continue their recent Dust 2 success, having only lost the map twice this year, against Vision. The map wouldn't start in Mythic's favor as Vision showed themselves to be a strong T-sided team, with Ian "1motm" Hardy showing himself to be a proficient AWPer over Erik "fl0m" Flom. Vision took the first half 10-5, but Mythic would mirror that effort right back sending the map to overtime.

Vision were unable to handle the Clout King James "hazed" Cobb and his 37 frags, however, as he helped push Dust 2 to a 19-17 finish in favor of the Mythic side.

With Mythic having banned Nuke, Vision chose to take their battle to Inferno, a map the team doesn't play as much, but fortunately for Andy "vSa" Xu and his crew, the Mythic boys recently lost to the Old Guys Club on the map in the MDL.

With that in mind, despite not winning the pistol round, and Jake "kaboose" McDonald not gaining a single frag in the first half, Vision were able to lead 9-6 at halftime thanks to a big 4K from vSa.

With the side flipped, and kaboose finally getting frags (he finished 7-15), Vision were able to bury Inferno winning seven of the final nine rounds.

Before Vision were able to take their first round, they had already found themselves down 9-0 to fl0m and his flock. Thankfully finding back-to-back rounds at the end of the half only had Vision down 12-3 before switching to the T-side.

Winning pistol helped eleviate the immediate pain of being down nine rounds, but not being able to string more than just a single extra round off of it helped push Mythic to map point being up 15-5. In a desperate attempt to keep his team's hope alive, Colin "wrath" McSweegan tried putting the team on his back for five straight rounds, before Mythic eventually pushed them over 16-10, winning the match and a spot in the closed qualifier.

The second battle of the South began with South American oNe taking the fight to Mirage, a map they have now won six straight games on.

The game started close with Bravado mounting the first lead, followed by oNe retaliating and making their own streak, with the half closing out due to time expiration in favor of Bravado's defensive side.

Unfortunately for the South African side, a 3K from Ruan "ELUSIVE" van Wyk to open up the B site wasn't enough for Bravado to capitalize on and take both pistols, causing the first lead change of the game, putting oNe up 11-8 with the subsequent eco rounds. Once the lead had changed, Bravado struggled to string enough rounds together to retake it, leading to oNe taking the first map 16-13.

As if all effort had been left on Mirage, Bravado struggled even more so on Overpass, a map oNe have become quite adept at playing in the recent months.

oNe's CT-side would be where they dominated most of the game, taking the half by storm 11-4 thanks to the efforts of Alencar "trk" Rossato and Pedro "Maluk3" Campos having a strong 1.46 and 1.60 impact respectively.

After losing the second half pistol, it was only a single round that Bravado could manage to take as they lost their hope of winning the game, with the Brazilians taking the final two rounds after finishing 16-5.
