anger put AZIO to bed

oNe and Mythic to Gfinity Spring Series Upper Bracket Finals; AZIO cast down to lowers

Eight teams remain in the competition and in the hunt for their share of the $15,000 prize pool.

A week out from the last round of Gfinity Spring Series, the third round of the Upper Bracket and the second round of the Lower Bracket have completed, leaving only 8 teams remaining.

Upper Bracket

The top side of the bracket featured Brazilian oNe against the French Canadian squad Grizzlys on Train and Mirage in the two map affair.

oNe's roster would change for the third time in the event with Alencar "trk" Rossato finally stepping back into the lineup, this time in place of CEO Alexandre "kakaveL" Peres.

Once oNe had their star player back in the fold, they were able to clean up Grizzlys handily with a 16-14 win on Train, and a follow-up 16-9 on Overpass, which moved them into the Upper Bracket finals.

On the other side of the bracket, Mythic cleaned up their MDL counterpart AZIO in a battle that would see Joshua "Hunter" Madore put down his Fortnite materials for an AK-47 in place of in-game leader Trevor "FrostayK" Bandle.

The series would see three maps, the first being Overpass. Even with Hunter standing in for FrostayK, the team house squad was still able to pull out a 16-8 win.

The success was short-lived however, as a solo effort from James "hazed" Cobb was  the difference maker when the map switched to Dust 2. A 34 frag performance was enough to put the Clout King and his Knights into the third map with a 16-11 victory.

Inferno decided AZIO's upper bracket fate but with a poor T-side that only saw 4 rounds in their direction, and just a CT pistol win to stand on, Mythic toppled the youngsters 16-6, pushing them into the lower bracket.

Lower Bracket

Playing their matches are quickly as possible, Infamous was able to get through their second round matchup played back on September 24th against EGO, the team who received a free ticket to the second round due to Zclan's disqualification.

As usual, the Infamous gang was able to pull Inferno through the veto, successfully taking it 16-7 with a dominant game from Nassir "rugrat" Francique. Overpass was more of a group effort as EGO began to pressure Infamous with a 13-11 lead, however, a hard money reset paved the way for Infamous to stroll through the last few rounds taking the map 16-13.

The rest of the lower bracket wasn't as quick at scheduling, leading to Stormborns playing the Las Vegas MiniGunners at the beginning of the month. The matchup was a near repeat of the last due to Las Vegas MiniGunners taking a commanding victory on the first map Mirage 16-5.

Cache was kept as close as regulation could manage with back-to-back 8-7 halves in favor of the MiniGunners thanks to "SGM" coming into form late in the series.

Roster swaps continued to plague the event even in the lower bracket as Sam "4sh0t" Mariano was spotted for a single map to help out The Mad Lads. Rather than a success story, the series went south, and Atlas would take the victory 2-1.

Loic "effys" Sauvageau played his heart out on Mirage but was unable to stop Atlas from taking the late game win 16-13, but the Frenchman was able to redeem himself on Cache  16-10 with another strong performance to push for map three.

Inferno saw The Mad Lads make a change as Nathan "leaf" Orf would not enter the server for a third time. 4sh0t would attempt to put his best foot forward in a close 16-13 effort but would eventually fall short.

Glockoma and Fam143 wrapped up the second round with a quick 2-0 sweep in favor of the MDL squad.

Fam143 were unable to win either of the pistol rounds on Mirage and were quickly down two rounds at the beginning of each half, but the game quickly shifted once the real guns came into play. William "shonk" Kittrell was able to flex his way to a first map victory 16-9.

Inferno began much closer with Fam143 managing to secure their first pistol round of the series on their CT side. Glockoma was able to snag seven rounds on their T-side, but weren't able to replicate the same eight rounds that Fam143 was able to, leading to a final 16-12, and an elimination from the event.
