BlackOut win Waves E-Gaming qualifier

The qualifier is over, and the prize winning teams have been confirmed as well as those off to Toronto.

The Waves E-Gaming qualifier for their $10,000 opening event in Toronto, Canada concluded last night, and it was BlackOut, who competed under the name "cantwinalan", who secured the win in the final against Anhduy "nguyen" Nguyen's Offbeat side.

The evening began with the semifinals, where Strings Llama Pack, featuring Blake "Strings" Stringer, became undone by Offbeat. The Llama Pack's 16-13 win on Nuke was sandwiched between two losses, 16-14 on Inferno and 16-9 on Cache, which made Offbeat the first team to the final.

BlackOut's win over Waves followed shortly afterwards, but it was another three game battle. BlackOut began with a strong 16-4 win on Nuke, before falling 16-14 in a very tight game on Overpass. Mirage was the finale, and it took them until overtime for Jonathan  "Jonji" Carey's new team to claim a 19-17 win.

The Final was a rather simpler affair, being completed in just two maps. BlackOut came down hard with a 16-9 win on Inferno, followed up with a 16-8 win on Overpass to pick up the $500 first prize. Both finalist teams, BlackOut and Offbeat, have also received $2,500 in travel support for the Waves E-Gaming Grand Opening LAN in September.
