Vision's roster can be seen clearly now
Alex "aproto" Protopapas has confirmed over social media that he will be joining Vision going forward. aproto previously played for Monstars, who most recently fell in the MDL Season 28 semifinals to Bravado.
The announcement came briefly after a report from Dust2.us was released, where we reported that aproto would be joining the roster in place of Danny "huynh" Huynh.
With the confirmation, aproto will reunite with Jacob "kaboose" McDonald, who he had previously played with on BlackOut. aproto will also reunite with Ricky "floppy" Kemery, who he briefly teamed up with in Season 21 of Main on Nexus.
With the confirmation, Vision's official roster is now:
- Gabe "Spongey" Greiner
- Jake "kaboose" McDonald
- Ricky "floppy" Kemery
- Andy "vSa" Xu
- Alex "aproto" Protopapas
- Mark "markalodon" Rose (Coach)
The announcement of huynh's replacement has been met with some backlash, with some users on Twitter questioning the removal of the two longest-standing players on the team following a successful second place finish in MDL.
Players on Vision have been quick to dismiss these claims, stating that the users criticizing the moves have no insight into what caused these roster changes and that the reasons should stay personal to the players and the team.
as yes, the insight of somebody that has no information inside the team!!— kaboose (@kaboose) August 14, 2018
Conversely, huynh rebuked kaboose's defense, claiming that the players on Vision did not talk to him before he was cut from the team, so not even himself would know the reasons for his dismissal.
but you guys didn’t even talk to me so how can i even know hahahahahahhh— GHOST HUYNH (@HUYNH_CS) August 14, 2018
In addition to huynh, Alex "lanhero" Suarez has been displeased with Vision's changes, replying to some tweets with a picture of Gabe "Spongey" Greiner's face, as well as retweeting a post criticizing the roster changes and retweeting huynh's reply to kaboose.
In response to one of lanhero's photo replies, Spongey lashed out at lanhero, calling himself successful and lanhero an upset person in a sarcastic reply.
oof you got a picture of me aka the guy who is succeeding rather than the guy who is upset :) post pictures of me all day because i love it— Gabe (@SpongeyGOD) August 14, 2018
Hunter "koga" Allen, who was previously a part of the F1-racecar-PEEK roster in early 2018, has also questioned the roster moves on Twitter and harshly criticized Spongey specifically.
Spongey retorted to koga's comments, claiming that himself and other players saw koga as "the most stats whore ever" (sic) and that the rest of the F1-racecar-PEEK roster disliked koga while he was on the team.
i didnt say a word to them about rejoining, lanhero came to me after they cut orbit tyvm also i dont think you realize this but everybody was talking in steam chat when we were in scrims talking shit about you so i hope you understand— Gabe (@SpongeyGOD) August 14, 2018
Dust2.us has reached out to multiple players for comments. While most players declined or did not respond, floppy accepted our request.
floppy, who currently plays for Vision, defended his team's decision to cut lanhero and huynh. The player stated that "lanhero isn't able to play the game like the rest of [them]," and that the in-game-leader acted like a child, in one instance shutting down the team's TeamSpeak server in the middle of practice because he was upset.
On huynh, floppy stated that the team "gave huynh multiple chances to improve upon the many mistakes he made and he did not fix [them]," ultimately leading them to cut the player.
