zecK and co. move on to the Minor Closed Qualifier

Fam143 and Armada have advanced to the Americas Minor Closed Qualifier, claiming wins over The Entourage and Mentality, respectively.

The Fam143 crew had an easier time earlier in the day against Levitate, where a firm 2-0 victory advanced them to the semifinals to face The Entourage. Another 2-0 victory would go their way here; however, these maps would prove to be a far harder fight than their previous bout.

The Fam started Train trailing 2-7 on their CT side, where a quick recovery saw them even the score and win the half 8-7 to give themselves a fighting chance. The Entourage attempted to shut Fam143 out of the map by winning the second half pistol and cruising to a 13-9 scoreline, but Justin "NEX" McLellan pushed back to take the map in their favor 16-14.

The series seemed set to go to a third map after Mirage saw The Entourage stonewall Fam143's T side, resulting in a 3-12 half. The team found themselves claw the series back thanks to two crucial economic resets, crushing The Entourage's money and granting them a second 16-14 victory to take the series.

Armada's first matchup of the day saw them taking on RivaL, where an initial 16-11 loss on Dust2 gave way to dominant 16-3 and 16-4 finishes on Inferno and Mirage. Their semifinal matchup saw them taking on Mentality, an ESEA Advanced squad who had taken down NoNamers earlier in the day.

A 12-3 half lead on Mirage seemed to almost ensure a first map victory for Armada, but Mentality showed fortitude as they fought their way back to force overtime. Armada recovered to take Mirage for themselves, but Mentality took the series to a third map with a 16-7 victory on Nuke.

Armada took control of the series once again on Train, putting up a stellar defense to grant themselves a 13-2 half. John "Jm0" Williams put up an incredible performance to help Armada take the series, boasting 120 ADR and 30 kills at the end of the map.

Grats to Armada, really enjoy playing them in scrims. The closed qualifier should be lit :)
